Okay, so what now?

You will receive a membership card and a blue book. The blue book contains information you will need as a beginning sailor and club rules. You will have to pass a written test based on information in the blue book in order to get your first rating. Read it. Make a list of questions. Go to the wac, find a chief and ask your questions.

Boat on the Lawn is our "membership drive" on the HUB Lawn. We do it at the beginning of each quarter (usually first wednesday of classes). This is the first opportunity to sign up for lessons for the quarter. If it is a popular quarter, the lessons often fill up at BOTL. Within a day or two of BOTL, online signups will open. As a new member, signing up at Boat on the Lawn will give you the best class choices.

Get sailing any way you can. Get your novice written test passed by reading the blue book and taking the test during club office hours at the HUB or with a chief at the WAC. Get shown how to rig a boat and get signed out to sail by a chief at the WAC. Watch the mailing list for opportunities to be crew for more experienced sailors.
