As the foredeck crew of Josh, Kate, and Jared prepared the boat to round the Aurora Bridge mark, a ghost ship appeared that was not subject to the weakening winds. With their ragged black sails flying under otherworldly breezes, they attacked the leaders of each start with their ample water cannons! We were lucky to make it back to the club with our costumes intact… Fortunately, our galley wench Beth had brought ample food to keep our spirits high while Rebecca steered a careful course across the finish line. 
	If you are interested in participating in Duck Dodge, go with an experienced club member first – things can be pretty wild and sometimes dangerous. Remember to follow the club rules at all times, and make plans for how to return by sunset.  Plan ahead for changing wind conditions and watch out for the grog-swilling pirates! 
Text Box: A favorite summer activity for WYC skippers is Duck Dodge, a race held on Lake Union almost every Tuesday night.  From Toga Night to Tropical Night, the themes are not to be taken lightly! WYC members with appropriate skipper ratings may take boats to this event, and take their chances winning the golden duck sticker for their boat. There is a start every five minutes beginning at 7:00 pm with the fast boats, followed closely by the half-fast boats, cruising/slower boats, and dinghys. The course (based on local landmarks) can be found posted on the committee boat. After the races, there is usually a raft-up at the committee boat and refreshments all around. 
	Pirate Night a few weeks ago was a typical Duck Dodge evening… Goran commissioned a sword-wielding, water-shooting crew of eight to man his pirate ship Perspicacious.  With both ladies and men wearing matching pirate tights and bandannas, we took the course by storm!
