The club has discovered a new way to attract members to Work Party Night. Apparently when an event is scheduled on a Thursday, and the word "work" is omitted from the announcement, WYC members are able to find the wherewithal to show up. settle for a burger sans bun and no chips! Completely unruffled by the situation at the grill, Robert Vanderpol II, sporting what appeared to be the latest acquisition to his tye-dye t-shirt collection as it required sun glasses to be seen without causing eyestrain, was master of ceremonies. Using prewritten elaborate incantations to the sailing gods and a stentorian voice, he dedicated, with assistance of various individuals, each floatable member of the laser fleet as well as the club's latest addition to the affiliate boat fleet and the primary reason for the event, Goran Zivkovic's Perspicacious, a roomy sweet sailing San Juan 28.

Kevin Hawkinson in the locks. When the whaler pulled up to the motor boat, this beautiful woman leaned out and said, "Are you a sailor?", "Is that a wetsuit you're wearing?", "Can you really tip over in that sailboat?". She went on and on, gave him a beer and they chatted for the duration of the water rising. Her parents and older brother were even in the boat and they left the two of them alone. It is was pretty fun to watch. I hope he got her number. I have a feeling she's got a thing for sailor-types. ;)
